The Resume

    (October 29, 2007- )
    Headquartered in Santa Monica, California
On-demand online video streaming subscription service
As of 2020, primarily owned by The Walt Disney Company with Comcast as a silent partner
Distributes original programming such as 'The Mindy Project,' 'The Handmaid's Tale,' 'Casual,' and 'Veronica Mars'

Why Hulu might be annoying:

Actor Alec Baldwin was promoted the service in several television advertisements that debuted during Super Bowl XLIII in 2009.
In those commercials, Baldwin jokingly touted that Hulu was an 'evil plot to destroy the world' and that he was an alien in disguise as a human.
Several movies and television shows are only available for several weeks or a few months, and then they are unceremoniously removed from the service.
In its early years, it was overshadowed by Netflix.
When Disney bought 21st Century Fox, it gained full control of the company.
Despite owning the entire Fox library, several of its newer movies would not be available on the service due to an agreement with HBO that expires in 2022.

Why Hulu might not be annoying:

It allows subscribers to binge watch several movies and films on their own schedule.
It revived 'Veronica Mars,' a dozen years after the show had ended on the CW Network.
In 2018, they linked an exclusive multi-year deal with anime dubbing production company Funimation (the company behind the english dub of the Dragon Ball anime franchise).
As a result of 'The Handmaid's Tale' winning the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series in 2017, they became the first streaming service to win that award.
They also offer a live streaming service called 'Hulu with Live TV' that offers subscribers with live feeds of several broadcast and cable networks.
The name is derived from a Chinese word that means both 'gourd' and 'interactive recording.'
