Sports Executive
    (February 18, 1944-June 13, 2019)
Born in Prairie de Chien, Wisconsin
Owner of the Denver Broncos (1984-2019)
He oversaw the bitter feud between John Elway and then coach Dan Reeves.
Under the first decade of his management, the team lost four Super Bowls between 1987 and 1990.
His predecessor Edgar Kaiser sued Bowlen twice when he tried to sell a fraction of the team's fortunes to Elway in 2004 and 2008.
Some insiders criticized him for the firing of long time head coach Mike Shanahan for newcomer Josh McDaniels.
He saved the team from bankruptcy in the mid 1980s.
He dedicated the first Bronco Super Bowl victory for Elway.
Under his wing, he helped bring in Terrell Davis, Shannon Sharpe and Neil Smith, changing the fortunes of the team in the 1990s.
At least he is more humble than fellow NFL team owners Jerry Jones or Al Davis.
