Why he might be annoying
He's become something for liberal celebrities to show off how much 'they care.' Those celebrities include Rage Against the Machine, Martin Sheen, Whoopi Goldberg, Michael Moore, Mike Farrell and Ed Asner.
He was convicted for first degree murder on December 9, 1981 for shooting and killing a police officer.
He's a founding member of the Black Panther Party in Philadelphia.
He allegedly made a confession while in the emergency room, although maintaining a plea of innocence since being convicted.
Why he might not be annoying
By twenty-five, he was a prominent journalist and radio broadcaster.
Many people who were there the night of Daniel's death remember someone else shooting a gun and fleeing the scene.
Mumia's .38 was never decisively linked to Faulkner's wounds.
Mumia was denied the option to represent himself (reason being his dreadlocks made jurors 'nervous') and was defended by an incompetent lawyer who was later disbarred.
Mumia was prosecuted by a DA who was later reprimanded for withholding evidence in another trial.
The judge for the trial was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Police who also sent more men to die than any other active judge in America. A fellow judge called his courtroom a 'vacation for prosecutors.'
