    He is overshadowed by other Stax artists.
    He recorded an album called 'Eargasm.'
    His biggest pop hit was called 'Disco Lady,' though it wasn't really disco.
    'Disco Lady' was banned by some radio stations.
    'Disco Lady' became a number 1 hit in 1976.
    He was nicknamed 'the Philosopher of Soul.'
    He replaced Sam Cooke as lead singer in the Soul Stirrers.
    He said: 'I do love music because it's always loved me.'
    He continued recording up until his death.
    He died of a heart attack in 2000.
