Actor

The Resume

    (May 25, 1944- )
Hosted 'C.O.P.S.,' 'American Detective (1991),' 'World's Wildest Police Videos (1998),' 'Getting a Ticket In America (2000)' and 'World's Scariest Police Chases (2001)'
    Acted in 'Ghost World (2001)'
Sheriff for 'Multnomah County, Oregon (January 1969-November 30, 1994)'

Why he might be annoying:

    He uses hair spray.
He often refers to himself in the third person.
He constantly reminds viewers of the dangers police departments face on duty.
He said, 'I'm from the school that thinks: If it looks like a banana, smells like a banana and tastes like a banana, it's probably monkey food.'
He is dramatic and likes to end segments with things like 'He and his pal are going to see the inside of a jail cell,' 'a six pack of panic,' 'it takes nearly a half dozen police officers to take him down!' and 'this foul contender won't see the light of day for some time.'
Most likely not though, since there was a lawsuit for his shows and Fox for misleading the public by saying, 'real cops, real crooks, real cases!' when real cops were doing reenactments of criminals.
He still introduces himself as 'Sheriff John Bunnell,' although he's retired from the Sheriff's Department.
He lost the election when he ran against Sheriff Dan Noelle.

Why he might not be annoying:

He has a good sense of humor and isn't afraid to step around his massive ego to laugh at himself.
When directing, he encourages actors to 'put more feeling into it.'
While on camera, he enjoys referring to criminals as things like 'scum, dirt ball, pond scum, filth and loser.'
He gives Reality Show starved viewers his share of feedings of such shows.
He publicly apologized to those complaining that his shows were misleading.
While on the Sheriff's Department, he was part of the Drugs and Vice Unit and a Supervisor.
