Why Dayton, Ohio might be annoying:

It has a reputation for being a boring and backwater industrial city.
Many of the city's homes and downtown buildings are vacant.
They have an obsession with their most famous natives, the Wright Brothers.
A lot of places in this city are named after them (ex. Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, The Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport, Wright State University, ect.).
Its population (as of the 2010 census) is only about half of what it was at its peak.
The city lost half of its manufacturing jobs in the 1980's and 90's.
The parking meter was invented here.

Why Dayton, Ohio might not be annoying:

It is home to the US Air Force's nationally-acclaimed museum.
It is a leading city for inventions. Among them are the stepladder, LCD liquid crystal display, movie projector, motorized wheelchair, and the parachute.
Thanks to the Wright Brothers association and being home to a huge Air Force base, it also a leader in aviation.
It has a thriving arts scene and their art museum is one of the best in the country.
It is turning its economy around by focusing on other industries like healthcare and engineering.
It is an underrated city that gets a bad rap.
