He is famous for the last minute leaping winning touchdown reception in the NFC Championship Game against the Dallas Cowboys; a play known as 'The Catch' (January 10, 1982).
'The Catch' helped the 49ers beat the Cowboys 28-27 and sent the team to Super Bowl XVI.
He led the NFL in receptions (60) (1982).
His #87 jersey is retired by the 49ers.
