Best known for his role as Father Francis J. Mulcahy on the TV series 'M*A*S*H' (1972-83)
Also acted in the TV series 'Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.,' 'Hogan's Heroes,' 'That Girl' and 'After MASH'
Acted in 'The Fortune Cookie (1966),' 'The Perils of Pauline (1967),' 'The Private Navy of Sgt. O'Farrell (1968),' 'The Shakiest Gun in the West (1968),' 'With Six You Get Eggroll (1968),' 'Hearts of the West (1975)' and 'Heaven Sent (1994)'
Co-authored the book 'Mixed Blessings' with his wife (1985)

Why he might be annoying:

He met his future wife on a blind date.
He didn't read the lines presented to him while auditioning for M*A*S*H, opting for a rambling speech.
He, along with Harry Morgan and Jamie Farr, got hooked into the 'After MASH' fiasco.
He's done TV commercials for IBM Personal Computers and the Union Bankers Insurance Company.
He stated, 'People still come up to me and say 'I've just become a M*A*S*H fan.' I appreciate it but I consider M*A*S*H very much in the past.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He is a direct descendent of patriot Paul Revere.
He has been married to the same woman since 1957.
Though Methodist, he nailed the Catholic priest voice and mannerisms the M*A*S*H producers were looking for and got the part.
He adopted two sons, one of whom is autistic.
He wrote about the experience of raising a special needs child and volunteers his time to the National Autistic Society.
