The Resume

    (January 26, 85-March 16, 1985)
CBS science fiction TV series about an average American family's adventures on some type of alternate world
Starred Sam Groom, Gretchen Corbett, Jonna Lee, and Jonathan Banks

Why Otherworld might be annoying:

The production values, the SFX, and the overall 'look' of the show was of cheap, terrible looking crap.
    The regular cast was mediocre.
It was a flop, lasting only eight episodes.
Teenager (that is underage) Jonna Lee was usually dressed in inappropriately sexy and revealing outfits and it appeared that her brother had a (possibly mutual) crush on her.
It has never developed the fan base of other science fiction shows such as Star Trek or Stargate: SG-1 and has almost disappeared from science fiction television culture.
It's attempts at social commentary were ludicrous.
Despite being in a different universe everyone spoke perfect, contemporary, 1980's English and the family had no problem fitting in at schools, finding jobs, moving around etc..
The first 15 minutes of the first episode served as the pilot and its sudden cancellation left it without any type of final episode to wrap things up.
In DVD/VHS form and on imdb.com it has been packaged as a mini-series which it most definitely was not.

Why Otherworld might not be annoying:

It was at times hilarious. Sometimes deliberately.
There were some exceptional guest stars including; Mark Lenard, John Astin, and Ray Walston.
When it was on the air, it was the only science fiction show on broadcast television.
The original idea was well, original and was inspired by elements of Egyptian mythology.
It had a some considerable potential.
The armed forces in the alternate world used ultralights with lasers and rockets, which sounds goofy but actually looked cool.
Sam Groom's opening narration of every episode was quite good.
