Why he might be annoying:

He was rude and insubordinate to his superiors.
He always overestimated the strength of his enemy.
He was indecisive and overly cautious on the battlefield.
He would refuse to attack the enemy at decisive moments because his troops 'weren't ready.'
He held back a large reserve during the Battle of Antietam, which probably prevented him from decisively winning the battle.
When Robert E. Lee's Confederate troops retreated after the Battle of Antietam, he refused to aggressively pursue them into Virginia (1862).
President Lincoln grew so impatient with him, that he removed him from all military positions (November 1862).

Why he might not be annoying:

He graduated second in his class from West Point (1846).
He helped to create a well-organized and trained Union Army.
He was extremely popular with his men and morale was usually strong under his command.
One of the reasons he was reluctant to enter battle was he did not want to see his men die.
He survived typhoid fever (1861).
