Football Coach

The Resume

    (May 20, 1927-March 11, 2023)
    Born in Superior, Wisconsin
    Retired NFL head coach
Head coach for the Minnesota Vikings (1967-83,1985)
Lost in all four Super Bowl appearances: IV, VIII, IV, and XI
NFL regular season record of 158-96-5 and went 10-12 in the playoffs
    Real name: Harry Peter Grant

Why he might be annoying:

    He lost four Super Bowls.
During games and practices, he wouldn't allow players to use heaters on the sidelines (remember this was Minnesota in the winter) to build discipline, but he would stand on the sidelines warmly bundled up and smoking cigarettes.
The NFC Central was a weak division for most of the time he was coaching in it.
He had his players practice standing for the national anthem.
He wasn't very good at adapting to changing situations during a game.

Why he might not be annoying:

He got his team INTO four Super Bowls.
He played basketball for the then Minneapolis Lakers 1950 NBA championship team.
He suffered from polio as a child, and it was feared he would never walk again.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
In his first year as a Philadelphia Eagle he played defensive end and led them in sacks. In his second year he played wide receiver and was second in the NFL in yardage and while playing for Winnipeg in the CFL, he made five interceptions in a playoff game. A record that stills stands as of 2011.
While coaching in the CFL he won 105 games in ten seasons, won four of the six Grey Cups (the CFL's version of the Super Bowl) he coached in, and was CFL Coach of the Year.
He won 11 division titles in 17 years of coaching in the NFL and was the 1969 Coach of the Year.
A devoted family man, he and his wife (they had six children together) had been married almost sixty years when she passed away.
He lettered in football, basketball, and baseball at the University of Minnesota.
He is without a doubt one of the greatest minds in NFL coaching history.
