In the seventies, he wrote a series of novels based on the original M.A.S.H. (M.A.S.H. Goes to Vienna, etc.) that were literally indescribably bad.
He picked a pen name that is actually goofier than his real name.
He writes about women poorly or not at all.
None of his stuff has ever been filmed.
Why he might not be annoying
His book sales are in the tens of millions!
He works very hard to get even the tiniest details right and has many friends in the military and law enforcement that help him to do so.
He met his wife duck hunting in Argentina.
The last few years he has been co-writing with his son.
His books are very popular among real life cops and military personnel.
