    (March 31, 1924-June 12, 1998)
    Born in Los Angeles, California
Birth name was Felice Leonardo Buscaglia
Professor at USC, author and motivational speaker
Taught the non-credit course 'Love 1A'
Books include 'Love,' 'Born to Love,' 'Loving Each Other' and 'Living, Loving and Learning'
Nicknamed 'Dr. Hug' and 'Dr. Love'
    He was extremely touchy-feely.
After discovering no one had written a book with the one-word title 'Love,' he would announce, 'I have the copyright on love.'
Tapes of his lectures became a pledge drive staple on PBS, leading him to be dubbed 'the grand daddy of motivational speakers' on TV.
Despite all his 'love' talk, he was divorced. (Although he insisted, 'It was a very loving divorce.')
He began the 'Love 1A' course after one of his students committed suicide and he asked, 'What are we doing stuffing facts into people and forgetting they are human beings?'
After a one-hour talk, he would stay an additional three hours to greet and hug every audience member who wanted to meet him.
His books sold over 10 million copies and at one point he had five titles on the New York Times best-seller list simultaneously.
He said, 'I'd like to be remembered for being a good, kind, loving, gentle man who attempted to live wisely, and who cared a lot.'
