In an interview with the Associated Press, she claimed she invented the phrase 'thingy-mah-jig.'
'You know how everybody says thingy-mah-jig? I could swear I made that up. Everybody says it, from Kentwood to California to New York, and I'm telling you, I made it up. I said it one day, and the next day the whole school was saying it' (October 12, 2002).
She is named after both of her parents (James and Lynn).
She became pregnant at 16 from a guy she met in church.
