Premise: The story of an inner city family headed by a hotheaded, sharp-tongued housewife

Why 227 might be annoying:

The series was originally pitched to ABC.
Gibbs was chosen because of her role on a TV series with a similar premise (The Jeffersons).
    Sandra was often bitchy.
Tiffany disappeared from the series after the first season without any explanation as to why she left.
Tension mounted between castmates Harry and Gibbs because the show seemed to shift its focus from Mary to Sandra.
As a result, NBC gave Harry her own show based on her character.
However the pilot episode was a disaster, and Harry ended up returning to the series as a 'recurring guest star.'

Why 227 might not be annoying:

The show was originally planned to debut in 1986 because of Gibbs commitment to 'The Jeffersons,' but the sudden cancellation of the show the year before allowed production on '227' to begin a year ahead of schedule.
It helped launch the careers of Regina King and Jackee Harry.
Harry won an Emmy for her role in 1987.
The theme song was sung by Gibbs herself.
