Why he might be annoying:

    He abandoned his life as a fisherman to follow Christ without a second thought.
    His fame is eclipsed by Peter’s, who was chosen to found the church.
    He expressed doubt that Jesus could feed a multitude with just a few fish and loaves of bread.
    He is often portrayed with long, messy white hair.
    The X-shaped cross is popular with sadomasochists.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He traveled throughout much of the Roman Empire spreading the gospel.
    He allegedly asked for an X-shaped cross because he didn’t feel worthy to die the same way Christ did.
    He was tied rather than nailed to his cross so he would live and suffer longer.
    His relics were returned to Greece by the Vatican as a goodwill gesture towards the Greek Orthodox Church (1964).
    His X-shaped cross is part of the Union Jack.
