Why Survivor 38: Edge of Extinction might be annoying:

Like the 22nd season of 'Survivor,' players weren’t necessarily eliminated in the same order that they were voted off the island.
Those who were voted out were given the option to either go straight to Ponderosa, ending their game once and for all, or go to the Edge of Extinction, where they’d have to go through hell for a shot at getting back into the main game.
The Edge of Extinction was just Redemption Island reborn.
With four returning castaways playing this season, couldn’t they have gotten two more new players so they could divide everyone equally into four tribes of five, each with one returnee?
They had to put up with Wendy making everyone feel guilty about wanting to eat the chickens.
After they tried to split and reshuffle the original two tribes into three, everyone on the Lesu tribe was a former Manu, everyone on the new Manu except Wendy was a former Kama, and everyone on the new Kama had also been an original Kama.
Because of the Edge of Extinction twist, viewers didn’t get to see anyone eliminated for good until the sixth episode, and the remaining eliminations all happened in the finale.
Those who hung around Extinction Island beyond the merge all got to be part of the final jury, if they didn’t get back into the main game.
As a result, Keith and Wendy were the only two this season not to make it to the finals or the jury.
Once there were only six players left in contention, the Edge of Extinction was no more, and players voted out were eliminated for good.
Due to the unorthodox nature of this season, there were no true exit confessionals, except when Rick lost the Final Four fire-making challenge.
Former Survivor player Ashley Massaro died the day after the finale aired.

Why Survivor 38: Edge of Extinction might not be annoying:

It gave voted-off players another chance to win, by letting them live on the Edge of Extinction to prove how badly they wanted victory.
Everyone who had the opportunity to go to the Edge of Extinction did so (as if anyone would turn down a second chance to win $1 million).
Castaways on Extinction Island who missed their chance to get back into the main game the first time could stick around the Edge of Extinction and wait for another opportunity.
It was the first season in which none of the returning players made it to the Finals.
Chris become the first 'wild card' player to win the game, as he was voted out, earned his way back from the Edge of Extinction, and eventually was voted Sole Survivor.
Chris was also the first player ever to return to the main game after serving on the jury in the same season.
There were 13 people on the final jury this time, three more than the previous high.
At the finale, Jeff jokingly tried to convince Joe to get his long hair cut short, but Joe really did cut his hair the next day after Sia promised to donate $15K to charity if he did so!
