'JFK (1991)' is based on him during the trial
Briefly worked for the FBI
District Attorney of New Orleans, LA (1962-1973)
Why he might be annoying
He wrote three books, all about the JFK assassination.
He used the trial of JFK's 'assassin' as a way to generate publicity for himself.
He was accused of wife beating, criminal defamation and public bribery.
He theorized JFK assassinated by the CIA, homosexual thrill-killers, the military-industrial complex, the Mafia, anti-Castro freedom fighters, etc. The only one he definitely eliminated was Lee Harvey Oswald|, who he believed was just a patsy.
A former assistant said 'Garrison deduced a theory, then he marshaled the facts. And if the facts didn't fit he'd say they had been altered by the CIA.'
He lost the biggest case of his career when Clay Shaw was acquitted of all charges related to JFK's assassination (1967).
Kevin Costner copied his accent horribly.
Why he might not be annoying
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
His book 'On the Trial of the Assassins' was a best seller.
A majority of Americans to this day believe that Lee Harvey Oswald did not act alone.
He refuted the shoddy intelligence gathered by the Warren Commission.
He brought the only criminal case involving John F. Kennedy's assassination to trial.
