The Resume

    (October 2, 1947- )
Professor of Ethnic Studies and coordinator of American Indian Studies at University of Colorado
Associate Director of the Center for Studies of Ethnicity and Race in America
Co-director of the Colorado chapter of the American Indian Movement
Vice chair of the American Indian Anti-Defamation Council

Why he might be annoying:

    He is an anti-establishment radical.
He claimed that the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks deserved to die because they were part of 'the mighty engine of profit.'
He said that the people who died in the Twin Towers were 'little Eichmanns' (comparing them to the infamous Nazi leader.)
He claimed that the 9/11 hijackers were 'combat teams' who made a 'gallant sacrifice.'
He uses cliched rhetoric, screaming 'Nazi' at anything he perceives as unfair.
About those killed in the attack, he said, 'let's get a grip here, shall we? True enough, they were civilians of a sort. But innocent? Gimme a break.'
He said that the 9/11 terrorists 'finally responded in kind to some of what this country has dispensed to their people as a matter of course,' even though the hijackers and Osama Bin Laden are Saudis, a people who have been made fabulously wealthy by American oil money.
He looks like a stereotypical aging hippie.
He frequently wears huge aviator sunglasses.
He was denounced by the National American Indian Movement and they reported that he was not Native American.
His degrees have been called into question.

Why he might not be annoying:

He is an outspoken activist for Native American causes around the country.
He is of Cherokee descent and his Indian name is 'Keezjunnahbeh,' which means 'the kind-hearted man.'
He criticized Noam Chomsky for defending Holocaust-deniers.
He is a respected speaker and writer and makes appearances at many public events.
In all fairness, he has fought tirelessly for many worthwhile causes.
