In August 2002, he was made chairman of the board of his father's newspaper company implying nepotism.

After portraying Kurgan in Highlander, he has been typecast as lumbering bad guys with little intellect.

Despite the fact that he is portrayed as a lumbering oaf, he graduated St. Albans Prep School.
He studied theatre in Northwestern University and graduated with a degree in speech.
He has remained married since 1993 to Jeanne Johnson.
His older sister died of leukemia in 1964.
All money from his fan club, pictures and autographs go towards a scholarship that is set up in his sister's name.
