Comedian
    (August 30, 1953-March 18, 1990)
Played Pop in ‘House Party' and Sweet Dick Willie in ‘Do the Right Thing'
    Created ‘Bebe's Kids'
    Died of a heart attack
    He was an alcoholic.
    He was crass and raunchy.
Many of his lines in ‘House Party' came from his stand-up act.
He died just as shooting began for ‘House Party 2,' and it was a bomb without him.
Needless to say, he had to be written out of the script.
He died just as his career was really taking off.
He had signed a multi-million dollar contract to make ‘Bebe's Kids' into a movie just prior to his death.
He has all but been forgotten by many.
Unlike many comedians who have one specific style, he could be just as dry and witty, as he was juicy and raunchy.
He was so funny that shooting scenes for ‘Harlem Nights' had to be held up on several occasions so Redd Foxx, Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor could collect themselves from laughing at his impromptu skits.
‘Bebe's Kids' was instead made into an animated feature, and was the first to have an all-black main cast.
The public received it better than executives had anticipated.
‘House Party 2,' ‘Bebe's Kids' and ‘Mo' Better Blues' were all dedicated to him.
He was a track star in high school and earned a scholarship to Ottawa University in Kansas.
