Baseball Player

The Resume

    (October 9, 1986- )
    Born in Newark, Ohio
Birth name is Derek Lane Holland
Starting pitcher for the Texas Rangers
Debuted in the MLB on April 25, 2009
Attended Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Alabama
Launched the 60 Feet 6 Foundation to help raise awareness of and fund research for leukemia (2014)

Why he might be annoying:

    His nickname is Dutch Oven.
His reputation as a goofball obscures his actual player stats.
He is known for ragging on his teammates while they are trying to give interviews.
Some fans blamed him for the Rangers' 2010 loss to the Giants in the World Series.
His knack for cringe-inducing celebrity impersonations is worse than Jimmy Fallon's (if that's humanly possible).
He and former teammate Justin Grimm donned orange and grey pimp-attire in a joke audition for the 'Dumb and Dumber' sequel.
He ended up on the 60-day disabled list after allegedly tripping over his dog on a staircase and injuring his knee (although stories circulated claiming that he actually tore the cartilage in his knee playing hockey against his contractual terms).
He injured his left middle finger after being hit by a line drive from Jose Altuve, which kept him out of several games (and probably caused him to unintentionally flip fans off).

Why he might not be annoying:

He is fun-loving with a great sense of humor.
He was rated the MLB's #2 prospect behind Neftalí Feliz (2009).
He did a hilariously awkward stint as a local Dallas TV weatherman.
His Harry Caray and Charlie Sheen impersonations are actually spot on.
Keith Olbermann apparently takes issue with him naming his dog 'Wrigley' (enough to name him 'World's Worst Person in Sports' over it, anyway).
He works to raise money for awareness and research to prevent Leukemia and support families struck by it, particularly pediatric forms.
He got his haircut in the style of Charlie Sheen's Vaughan character from 'Major League.'
Sheen was so flattered by the homage that he personally dropped by the dugout when they were playing the Anaheim Angels to take a closer look and give his approval.
Whether his 'Grimm and Holland-er' audition was for real or just started out as a joke, evidently the film's producers took notice because he scored a cameo in the final 'Dumb and Dumber To' film as an asylum patient (although for some reason Grimm didn't).
