Crowned Miss World 1975 in London, England

She was hand picked to represent Puerto Rico in the Miss World pageant.
Upon returning to Puerto Rico after her pageant win, she expected a large parade but few people showed up.
A woman claimed, she, not Wilnelia, was the rightful Miss Puerto Rico and called for Wilnelia to be stripped of her title.
In 1979, Wilnelia married British entertainer Sir Bruce Forsyth who is 29 years her senior.

She was the first Puerto Rican Ford Model.
In 1994, she created a charitable foundation to benefit underprivileged children in Puerto Rico.
She graduated from England's Guilford Institute, specializing in design and painting and currently designs the Miss World line of swim wear.
