Why he might be annoying
He held up more than 200 promotions to try to pressure the Air Force into stationing four new C-130 cargo planes in Idaho.
Commenting on the slow rebuilding of Iraq and post-Katrina New Orleans, he said 'Fraud is in the culture of Iraqis. I believe that is true of the state of Louisiana as well.'
He voted for a Constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage.
He voted against extending the federal definition of hate crimes to cover sexual orientation.
He called a blogger's allegations that he is gay 'completely ridiculous.' (2006)
He was arrested in a men's room at the Minneapolis airport for 'suspicion of lewd conduct' (June 11, 2007) and pled guilty to disorderly conduct.
Why he might not be annoying
He was president of the student body at the University of Idaho.
He supported a balanced budget amendment.
He is an advocate of adoption.
He formed a barbershop quartet with fellow Senators Trent Lott, John Ashcroft and Jim Jeffords.
