    He traded so many big-ticket players, he was called the 'master trader.'
    He failed when he tried to start a new baseball league (The Continental League).
    He played baseball and football at Ohio Wesleyan University.
    He won 4 World Series championships as GM for the St. Louis Cardinals.
    He helped break baseball's color barrier by signing Jackie Robinson.
    He helped pave the way for Latin players in MLB by signing Roberto Clemente.
    The Rickey Award is presented annually to a baseball player for his community service contributions.
    He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame (1967).
