Servant at Balmoral Castle
Personal 'ghillie' (servant) to Queen Victoria
Why he might be annoying
Queen Victoria favored him over her own children.
Many people, including the royal family, despised him for his influence over her.
He and Victoria were rumored to have a sexual relationship.
Some historians believe they were secretly married, which would have been scandalous and probably illegal at the time.
The Queen squandered a lot of taxpayer money for portraits and statues made of him.
One statue was said to be so lifelike that people were afraid of it.
Why he might not be annoying
He became Victoria's closest friend after her beloved husband Prince Albert died.
He once saved her life when she was physically attacked.
He overcame the brutal British class system to become a very powerful man.
He was a humble servant who got to rub it in the face of the Queen's stuck-up relatives.
Victoria loved him so much that she was buried with some of his belongings.
After the Queen died, her family destroyed many of his portraits and possessions.
Billy Connolly portrayed him in a movie, 'Mrs. Brown.'
