Entrepreneur

The Resume

    (August 11, 1944- )
    Born in Marks, Mississippi
Founder, chairman, president and CEO of FedEx
Net worth of $2.1 billion (2013)
Cameo appearance in the movie 'Cast Away' (2000)

Why he might be annoying:

He reportedly got a 'C' on the college paper in which he outlined the business plan behind FedEx.
Because he was a Skull and Bonesman alongside both George W. Bush and John Kerry, he called himself 'the Forrest Gump of American politics.'
He was indicted for forging signatures on documents to obtain a $2 million bank loan for FedEx (January 31, 1975).
Later that evening, he fatally ran over 54-year-old handyman George Strughill, and was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving with an expired license.
He was sued by his two half-sisters for misappropriating their shares of Frederick Smith Enterprises, the company established by their father.

Why he might not be annoying:

He had the birth defect Legg-Calve-Perthes disease, which caused arthritis of the hips and required him to use crutches and leg braces until he was ten.
He served two tours of duty with the Marines in Vietnam, earning a Silver Star and two Purple Hearts.
During FedEx's early years, he took the company's last $5000 in cash to Las Vegas and made enough playing blackjack to cover a $27,000 fuel bill. ('The $27,000 wasn't decisive, but it was a sign that things would get better.')
He was acquitted on the forgery charges.
It ain't just anyone who can turn a C paper into a multi-billion dollar business.
