The Resume

    (1975- )
Born in Hersham, Surrey, England, United Kingdom
    1977-79 Line-up:
    Jimmy Pursey, vocals
    Dave Parsons, guitar
    Mark Cain, drums
    Dave Tregunna, bass guitar
Broke up in 1980, reformed in 1987
Recorded the singles ‘Angels with Dirty Faces’ (1978), ‘If the Kids Are United’ (1978), ‘Hurry Up Harry’ (1978), ‘Questions and Answers’ (1979), ‘Hersham Boys’ (1979), and ‘Hurry Up England’ (2006)

Why they might be annoying:

Their concerts attracted a large skinhead following and were frequently plagued by violence.
For their most recent hit single, they refashioned their punk song ‘Hurry Up Harry’ into an unofficial anthem for the England World Cup team.
Pursey and former Sex Pistol John Lydon came to blows while waiting in a queue for visas outside the US Embassy in London; reportedly, Lydon threw coffee on Pursey, who then kicked Lydon. (August 24, 2005).
Since 2007, there have been two different line-ups billing themselves as Sham 69. (Disappointingly, the version that contains no members from their late-1970s heyday does not call itself Sham Sham 69.)

Why they might not be annoying:

Their first independent single, ‘I Don’t Wanna,’ was produced by John Cale and sold well enough to get the band signed to Polydor Records.
They were one of the most commercially successful punk bands, with five Top 20 hits in the UK during 1978-79.
They performed at Rock Against Racism concerts.
’If the Kids Are United’ became a popular chant for fans of Sheffield United.
