Many of his film roles were uncredited.
He usually played servants.
He had a low, gravel voice. He got it as a newspaper boy, over straining his throat yelling headlines all day.
He was so convincing as a butler on the 'Jack Benny Show' that many people thought he actually was Jack Benny's personal butler.

He adopted a son.
He had perfect comedic timing.
His mother walked a circus tightrope.
He became very good friends with Jack Benny, and worked with him for over 20 years.
He was forced to retire from the entertainment industry because of heart problems.
He was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame (2001).
