Why they might be annoying
While they had on stage chemistry, off stage they could barely tolerate one another.
Prater shot his wife, but charges were not filed (1968).
They broke up in 1970, then reunited several times in the '70s without impact.
Moore admitted he was a heavy drug user in the 1970s.
Prater toured with Sam Daniels under the name 'Sam & Dave' in the mid-'80s until Moore threatened legal action.
Prater was busted for selling crack to an undercover cop in 1987.
Why they might not be annoying
They were part of the Stax 'southern soul' Memphis sound that included songs written for them by Isaac Hayes.
They were known for incredible energy and stage presence during live performances.
The Aykroyd/Belushi movie 'The Blues Brothers' borrowed heavily from their sound.
After the movie came out they enjoyed a resurgence of popularity and toured in 1980 and '81.
The were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (1992).
Moore recorded a solo album after a 35 year absence with guest stars including Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Billy Preston, Mariah Carey, Paul Rodgers, Eric Clapton, Jon Bon Jovi, Steve Winwood and Sheila E (2006).
