    Namesake of Hershey, Pennsylvania

Why he might be annoying:

    He was a Mennonite Amish.
    His middle name was Snavely.
    He opened a candy store that failed, leaving him nearly bankrupt.
    Hershey's chocolate has been accused of containing radioactive chemicals from the Three Mile Island disaster.
    Hershey's brought chocolate to the mainstream in America, possibly contributing to the obesity epidemic.
    He didn't invent milk chocolate, he took the idea from the Germans and Swiss.
    He got much fatter as he got older (probably from too many samples).
    He smoked 10 cigars a day. It caused him to lose his sense of taste.
    Because of his failed taste buds, he tried introducing horrible foods at his hotel like beet-flavored ice cream.

Why he might not be annoying:

    All his siblings died soon after birth.
    Because his family moved a lot, he only completed fourth grade.
    He improved caramels by adding milk, then sold that company for $1 million (over $22 million in 2005 dollars).
    He perfected mass production of milk chocolate, reducing its price to 5¢.
    He returned to his impoverished hometown to build his factory.
    His company gave us Hershey bars, Hershey's Kisses, Milk Duds, Kit Kat, Krackel, Payday, Whoppers, Jolly Ranchers, Rolos, Twizzlers and Whatchamacallit.
    His employee gave us the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.
    He built a town for his employees that was superior to nearly all corporate towns in the country.
    He fired no one during the Great Depression.
    When World War II broke out, the government asked him to make a special chocolate bar to give troops. He did, sending over 500,000 a year.
    He established a foundation to provide education and culture for his workers and their families.
    He built the Hershey Hotel to carry out his dying wife's last wishes.
    A fund he established provided $50 million for Pennsylvania State Medical School.
    He and his wife Catherine couldn't have children, so they founded a private school to provides free education for the needy.
    Before he died, he left most of his fortune and company to a fund that benefitted the school.
