Why she might be annoying:

She wore dental braces.
Like most gymnasts, she wore the make up of strippers, including being heavily made up, sparkles and eye shadow glitter.
During the 2004 Olympic trials, she twice fell off her best apparatus, the balance beam.
Her nickname is Carly 'the Harley' Patterson and 'Harley Davidson.'

Why she might not be annoying:

Twenty years after Mary Lou Retton was the first American to win the all-around gymnast gold, she became the second. Retton called her immediately to congratulate her.
She said whenever she got weary of her six hour per day workout, she would remind herself she has the rest of her life to enjoy.
She likes pop, rap and country music.
She refrains from eating pizza and ice cream while training.
Her best event is the Balance Beam.
Because of her performance in the 2003 World Championships, team U.S.A. took the gold.
As a six year old, she was doing cartwheels when a coach noticed her and urged her mother to train her as a gymnast.
She wants to be a role model.
She dreamed of being on a Wheaties box.
