Why they might not be annoying
They have a patriotic name.
They used to play in the Spectrum, where the boxing match in 'Rocky' was filmed.
They ended the Celtics' string of eight straight titles when they won in 1967.
They lost only once in the playoffs on their way to their 1983 championship.
Julius Erving had perhaps two of the most spectacular shots ever while with the 76ers (a reserve lay-up against the Lakers and a windmill dunk during the 1983 NBA Finals).
