He became Prime Minister when he was an old man, at 65 years old.
He had little political experience when he became Prime Minister.
He was a shy and reserved person.
He once dressed as a train conductor and drove a train a little ways for a publicity stunt.

He was instrumental in getting Canada into NATO.
He loved children, and Canadians gave him the nickname of 'Uncle Louis.'
He oversaw Canadian participation in the Korean War.
