The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

His playing career was cut short as a result of injuries.
He was part of the board that gave the green light for the CFL's ill-fated expansion into the United States (1993).
While working for the CFL Players Association, he threatened to sue the league if it reduced the import ratio requiring each team to include a minimum number of Canadian players.
Like his predecessors, he failed to acknowledge a sense of urgency in regards to the Toronto Argonauts' attendance issues.
He was faced with a major public relations nightmare for the league weeks after being appointed commissioner when the Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced they were hiring Art Briles (who had been fired as head coach of Baylor University over his handling of a sexual assault scandal) to their coaching staff.

Why he might not be annoying:

He majored in business at the University of Manitoba.
He worked for various companies following his retirement from football.
He was the first former player in over 20 years to be appointed commissioner of the CFL.
He was successful in diffusing a potentially damaging reputation for the league by talking the Tiger-Cats out of their decision to hire Art Briles.
He pushed up the CFL's Diversity Is Strength campaign one month ahead of schedule in wake of the Charlottesville riots (August 2017).
