He was uncredited in most of his earliest films.
He is the father of actors Beau and Jeff Bridges.

Why he might not be annoying:

Allegations surfaced in the 1950s that Bridges had been involved with the Communist Party. Those allegations threatened to ruin his career, but he was later given an FBI clearance and resumed work.
He and Dorothy Dean wed in 1938 and were married until Bridges' death in 1998.
He worked extensively in films and television guest appearances throughout his career.
