Why he might be annoying:

    He was bowlegged and was described as running 'like a soft-shell crab.'
    He sat out the entire 1915 season in a contract dispute.
    He complained about the livelier 'rabbit ball' that allowed teammate Babe Ruth to demolish his home run totals.
    He claimed, 'A Little Leaguer today can hit the modern ball as far as grown men could hit the ball we played with.'

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was considered the best power hitter of the pre-1920 'deadball' era.
    Walter Johnson called him 'the most dangerous batter I ever faced.'
    He was part of Connie Mack's '$100,000 Infield' (1909-14) and the first Yankees' line-up to be dubbed 'Murderers Row' (1919).
    He and his wife had twin daughters that died before they were two weeks old.
    He reportedly never drank, smoked or swore.
    He served as a volunteer fireman in his hometown.
