He started acting at age 12 in 'Oliver!' on the London stage.
According to Olivia Hussey, he threw peanuts down her dress during the balcony scene in 'Romeo and Juliet.'
After his promising debut as Romeo, his film career quickly faded.
After his acting career ended, he turned to writing, but has not gotten any of his work published.
He wrote a sequel to 'Romeo and Juliet' that he described as 'a cross between Shakespeare's original and Chinatown.'

Director Franco Zeffirelli described him as 'the kind of idealistic young man Romeo ought to be.'
He was only 17 when he was cast as Romeo.
He is part Gypsy.
