Why he might be annoying
He left Mystery Science Theater 3000 after only a year.
This made it hard to keep continuity of the show, but they pronounced him missing and to account for the voice change of Tom Servo Joel had to install a new voice box for the bot.
He changed his name from Josh Weinstein to J. Elvis Weinstein.
Why he might not be annoying
He originated characters of Dr. Larry Erhardt, Tom Servo and Gypsy on 'Mystery Science Theater 3000.'
He was merely a teenager when he worked on 'Mystery Science Theater 3000'
He credits Trace Beaulieu with being a great puppeteer, in that he controls Crow, while he only had to control a mouth string for his bot Tom Servo.
His bot was originally named beeper and was only to say beep.
He thought it was a waste of time and named him Tom Servo, and gave him a personality 'I did think of him as being a bad morning D.J. with a giant ego and delusions of being a chick magnet.'
Most of the time he did not see the movie they were wise cracking about, so his comments were pure improv.
He started stand up comedy at 15.
